AND SHE SAID YES, I DO!

I have been wanting to witness that day when I would hear her say yes I do. Lo and behold she said yes, I do. Evelyn was a lady that no man can look at once and take his eyes off. Her charm and glamour are not of this earth.  We met at a function on the Island.

 The two lover birds

I could still remember that day it's still as fresh in my memory as today. I was invited to a seminar in Eko hotel and suites. I did not know the caliber of people I would meet there, so I tried my best to dress smartly.

Though, I had been attending seminars before, but this would be my first time on the Island. I'm not that stylish when it comes to fashion so I put on a blue T-shirt on a black jean and white Skechers.

My invitee even begged me to wear a suit but I disoblige. I hate suit with passion, each time I put on a suit it always like a punishment to me. Don't mind me it's not just my thing.

I left home at 6 am in the morning because the seminar was scheduled to start at 8 am. I got there late because of some delay I encountered on the road due to traffic jams. Thankfully, I didn't put on a suit, it would have been terrible.

I was sitting in between two fat people inside the danfo bus I entered. It was when we entered traffic I know that I was in serious trouble. Both of them were sweating like mad, and their sweats were dropping on my body, coupled with my own sweat.

Kade, my friend who invited me to the seminar had earlier told me that they would not allow me in if I was late."Call me, perhaps you come late."  But I was just thirty minutes late there should still be grace, I thought.

So I didn't bother calling him. I walked straight to the door, I met a damsel who has been shining her thirty-two the moment she sighted me. She was like a sunrise in the summer, a beautiful field by the riverside. She asked, how may I help you? I'm here for the seminar.

I'm sorry you are late. Firstly, I'm Samuel and you are... Evelyn, she snapped. "I was coming from afar, how may you be of help?" I'm just an usher and I'm operating base on instruction. "Kindly call your invitee."

I was short of airtime. And how can I just tell this damsel I don't have airtime. "I'm having a flat battery said I." Could you please help me notify him that I'm around? Erm, sorry, he's Kade, do you know him? Yes, I do.

I know all you are thinking about all along is a yes to a marriage proposal. No, it was a yes I do to something else. Fiction?

I am Akerele Odunayo Samuel.

IT MATTER

IT MATTER! The topic to be discussed today is ‘it matter’, but the question is, what matters? Join me as we look into this deeply.  When I was in secondary school my Agricultural science teacher taught us then GERMINATION and the factor responsible for growth. Some of the factors are: viable seeds, moisture or water, nutrient (soil) and air (oxygen) When I meditatively considered these factors I realized that not even one out of them is un-important. If any of them isn’t available then the seed growth or germination is in jeopardy. Applying this into our lives’ journey as humans, it is evident that some factors also responsible for our own growth in every endeavors of life. Some take this serious while some others don’t.  When I say growth I do not mean increase in the number of age. Neither do I mean increase in stature. We grow in business, career, and ministry and so on. For us to grow in life we need to take these factors seriously. For instance the viabil...

I PROPOSED A DECEIT

I was born when the time was still partially measured by the throaty crow of the cocks. When if cock refuses to crow, the time was measured by the height of shadow.  I can still very much remember how my father would say the time is three o'clock in the afternoon because the shadow had reached a certain height on the wall in our backyard. Sometimes I was wowed at the level of his intelligence.  He didn't mark that particular spot on the wall and he never for once missed it. I tried doing but kept on missing it. Then, I used charcoal to Mark it. Isn't beautiful to say I also measured time by the height of shadow? Winks.  My father was a farmer and partially a hunter. He was very diligent and good at what he does. He had cocoa, cola nut, plantain, yam, maize, cowpea, and rice farms. He was rich in goats, and different kinds of fowls. Apart from the fact that he uses labor we the children were also part of the labors employ on his farm.  We worked all ye...

YOU TOO CAN BE BIASED

'My mother is the best mum in the world.' Are you conversant with this saying? I'm sure you do. I once disprove it, and you hear them saying I'm not talking about everybody but to me, my mother is the best in the whole world. This statement is biased. You see that point you pass judgment concerning a matter from your own point of view, you are biased.  Like I said earlier the writers of the best mum in the world write based on who they think is the best mum in the world. Even though, she might not be the best. But as far as they are concerned she is the best. This is a biased judgment. Photo credit to Pixabay. Am I trying to point an accusing finger at people for being biased? No, but I'm directing my article to those who believe that they are not biased.  People cook up stories just to favor their course because of their interest. They will go to any length to prove this, not because of anything but their interest. If there is anything humans...
