THE METAMORPHOSIS OF MR JOSH

What gives you an assurance that the situation of this country would ever change? Josh asked. I’m sure things are getting better; this present administration has been doing good for this nation.

Good things that we’ve never seen for years are happening now, said the second man. The third man nodded his head in agreement with him. Josh said anyway I believe things are changing but not for the better, things keep on getting worse.

The newspaper vendor asked the man that was holding the complete sport dailies to drop it since he had been reading it for five minutes without paying a dime. A lot of cacophonies at the vendor shop due to argument ranges from sport to Nigeria matter.

Since it was Saturday Josh stayed long before leaving to his house. His Saturday was for rest watch premiership if it’s football season and bible study review in the evening.

Phone beeps…

Who could that be Josh snapped? He was in the sitting room watching arsenal game. He lived alone, only that his younger brother did check on him once in a while. He motioned into the room to check who was it that was calling! Oh! Kikelomo. Kikelomo is Josh fiancée, they’ve been together for over a year.

They loved each other to the moon. Only that they did fight once in a while whenever Kike came up with the idea that he should let them walk down the aisle. Which always made him got angry. He was working in a good organization receiving six figures monthly. But he felt he could not get marry with that, besides he wanted to travelled abroad for greener pasture. Before he got to the room the called had ended.

He dialed her number again. At first ring she picked it, from her end should I be praying before I called you so that you can pick it? I’m sorry I was in the sitting room…. Doing what she asked? Watching! Arsenal match? Yes! Come and open the gate for me I’m outside. This girl has come again with her wahala (trouble), she wouldn’t allow someone to enjoy this game in peace.

What did you have in your kitchen? I’m famished. Nothing! But there’s biscuit and yoghurt in the fridge. I didn’t say I want snack. I need food. I heard you clearly, as you can see that’s what I just finish eating. You this boy would not change, come and do the needful to have me you are doing strong head. See what’s your problem? Why are you afraid of getting marry? See you, you are working and doing fine, so tell me the problem! I don’t have any problem he responded. Just that there’s time for everything.

Try and understand me…. I want a better future for the both of us. Let me travel over there and the moment I start working I would come back for you. Let’s do this for the sake of the children that would come through us.

But you are working, besides we can create the world of our own here in Nigeria. We don’t have to travel abroad to create a better future for us and the children yet unborn. Try and understand me, we can do this together. You don’t even know what you are going to meet over there.

What if you… stop all this sermon. My mind is made up, and that I don’t know what to meet there, I really do. My uncle called me three days ago and he said he wants me to join him over there that there are lots of opportunity for young chaps like me. I know you don’t know him. He travelled when I was in high school. He didn’t even call when my father who was his brother die.  Joshua was an orphan. He lost his mum at a very tender age. While his dad died when he was in year one in the University. Since then he had been the one catering for himself and his only younger brother who graduated couple of years ago.

He even said I can stay in his place for as long as I want. Can’t you see everything is working according to plan? That’s an indication that God’s involved. Someone that has not called me for years just called me three days ago, without telling him about my plan, he offered me the opportunity to come to US.

Joshua listen to me, all this you highlighted is not an indication that God is involved! Did you seek God opinion in the first place?  Hear me, I don’t have to. It is a good thing and God is always part of anything good.

IT MATTER

IT MATTER! The topic to be discussed today is ‘it matter’, but the question is, what matters? Join me as we look into this deeply.  When I was in secondary school my Agricultural science teacher taught us then GERMINATION and the factor responsible for growth. Some of the factors are: viable seeds, moisture or water, nutrient (soil) and air (oxygen) When I meditatively considered these factors I realized that not even one out of them is un-important. If any of them isn’t available then the seed growth or germination is in jeopardy. Applying this into our lives’ journey as humans, it is evident that some factors also responsible for our own growth in every endeavors of life. Some take this serious while some others don’t.  When I say growth I do not mean increase in the number of age. Neither do I mean increase in stature. We grow in business, career, and ministry and so on. For us to grow in life we need to take these factors seriously. For instance the viability of th

MY LOCAL FRIEND

We started this series last week when we talked about ‘lessons from a game of football.’ The capsule overview of last week post is the fact that in a game of football they have a common goal, which is to win. And we established that if at all victory would be their friend then there is a need for them to work as a team. Here is a personal experience shared by a very good friend of mine: I have many friends both in my town and neighboring town. Some of them are educated while some are not. There was a time I went for a conference outside my town. I met new friends at the conference whose exposure transcend some of my friends at home. I needed to get their contacts but both my subscriber identity module (SIM) and phone storage were completely full. A thought cropped up in my mind to delete two of those my friends’ contact. I wanted to delete two numbers, a guy number who was a drop out of secondary school and one ot

SEEDS

I remember when I started teaching as a side hustle. I didn't really take it serious. The first student I encountered,  just walk up to me for asistance, and I taught him at no cost. The last time I met him, he is already a graduate. After I graduated from the university I taught in one, two, three or four places. But those seeds I sowed then jokingly have become trees, I mean  big trees. Just last month I met two of my students in one of the reputable university in Nigeria; one is studying Chemical engineer and the other Computer science. Those were the one I taught between 2017 and 2018. Some of the students I taught between 2015 and 2016 had graduated from universities while some are in their final year. Some of my students are still in secondary schools and they are doing fine. I have students that are not in school but follow their passion either as singers, comedian, etc. and they are as well doing fine. Why am I telling you this? Is it for show, or perhaps to
